The lake is 5 km long and 10–40 m deep in the middle. It holds large trout (hard to catch), plenty of smaller trout, abundant perch up to 1 kg and Arctic char throughout the lake. In winter people go jig fishing. A fishing permit is required.

A little history
The name probably comes from the Mittån river, and the form Mittlingen became Mässlingen.
