Fjällriket offers many unique lakes, tarns and streams. Lake Messlingen, the Mittån river and the Stadsån (Stassån) river are all within walking distance of Baggården. These places offer fantastic fishing for trout, Arctic char, grayling and perch.
Lakes, tarns & rivers
Messlingssjön
Messlingssjön is 5 km long and 10-40 m deep in the middle of the lake. The lake holds large trout that can be hard to catch, and there is plenty of smaller trout. Perch are abundant, and weights of up to 1 kg are not unusual. Arctic char are found throughout the lake. There are many small char, but in recent years the average weight has increased, and in winter you often catch fish of 200-500 g when ice fishing.
Mittån
The Mittån river, both upstream and downstream, is good trout water, and the fish bite on fly, lures/spinners and worm. There is plenty of fish in the Mittån above the lake and below the iron bridge. Watch out for beaver tunnels along the river.
